Since last few days, I have been researching on new changes done by Google in their algo to rank website in their SERP. I will share about the trends & all in my second post but this post is all about the other side of the industry which made me think about the values of a business/ an individual as SEO Professional and ethic of SEO.
Well, during my research I have come across many websites & social media pages/profiles of companies as well as individual. Some of are known to me & some are not, but what makes me think is the way website represents the company, the social media profiles of the companies / individuals and the way its ranking in search engines.
I wont get in much details of these website but would love to share few points which questioned the morality of the SEO profession.
Google & other search engines have shared thier guideline to make the website SEO friendly, but as we know people do try different methods to push their site into Search Engines (Grey hat & black hat methods) but lets talk about WHITE HAT SEO & Ethics of White hat SEO.
Even in white hat methods people try to get back-links using directory submissions & Article submissions & all. Now, ideally, you should only get a back-link when someone naturally comes in & refer you (just like RT & Re-share in various social media platforms) but here very rare SEOs there who just wait for others to start giving them backlink. Objective is clear to get links so that their client’s website start getting rank in Search Engines. So, Do we follow PURE WHITE HAT HERE ? We need to think, Isn’t it ? Read the rest of this entry »
Just few days back, I have shared the industry news that, since a long time Google have not updated its Toolbar Page Rank & it might possible because its license to use due date approaching by the end of this year. But, Yesterday i.e. on 20th January,2011, Google has updated the Google Toolbar Page Rank (PR).
Google Toolbar PR Update : January,2011
Well, today morning, I cam across two major news from Google. The first is very obvious, Google Page Rank update & Second is, Larry Page is now taking a charge as Google CEO. I don’t know whether this is just a coincidence Or there are some correlation. The first thing, like every other SEO professional I did was, checking up my client’s domain PR, and am glad that its improved
But, story didn’t end here as my analytical habit forced me to look at it in more detail. So, What I noticed ? Read the rest of this entry »

Innovative SEO : Learn & Share All About SEO
Hello Friends,
New year brings a new joy to life, new hope, new commitment & new way of life. I think, with the new year, we will witness some major changes in SEO as well. I was reading a latest news on SEO & there is one headline which captured my attention & that is Google PageRank. Well, No, its not about Google PageRank update as you might have think about, but this is something which you didn’t have imagined.
Google will loose its Toolbar PageRank : Rights reserved to Standford University
Yes, Google might lose its exclusive rights to use Pagerank this year. The fact is Stanford University actually owns the patent to “PageRank”, and Google has exclusive licensing rights to it- but only until 2011.
So, May be thats the reason, we have not seen any major update in Google Toolbar PageRank since last April,2010 & may be we will not see in the near future. The possibilities are many. May be Google get extension just like the last time or may be Google introduce some kind of Trust Rank or may be they just ignore it & completely focus on their algorithm update.
Google Webmaster Forum thread refers that, “The PageRank patents held by Stanford do not refer to a toolbar, but rather a process of calculating a probability that if one were to start from one page on the web, that they might end up upon another specific page.”
So, What do you think ? Will Google remove the Toolbar PageRank ? Will it effect your SEO efforts ? Eagerly waiting to have a thoughtful discussion over here. This sounds like really interesting topic to me.
